I find it Ironic when people come to my shop and see that I run production and say,
"You should not be doing this kind of work; You need to be upstairs on the phone getting more business" hire this stuff out........" I believe they think somehow this work is mindless? Maybe they have never been 50 parts into a job and realized a new way to cut the production time in half.
I find production to be a thoughtful calm activity - sort of like fishing. As I write this post, my mill is happily purring on a 12 minute cycle time part that I will run all day. My 3800 lb employee will work tirelessly and every part will come off within tolerance. There is nothing mindless about this activity. M
